African Vase "Snake" Basket

Are you an amateur snake charmer? You bought the flute, learned the song, even found a suggestible cobra to dance to the hypnotizing tunes? Now all you need is the perfect basket, and we got you covered! Or, I suppose you can keep blankets and toys or other stuff inside. Thats OK too. 

Woven with ethically sourced Elephant grass (veta vera) straws, they allow storage from extra blankets to children's toys in your living room, to mitts and woollen hats tucked conveniently near the entryway. They also make a beautiful gift for the design conscious.

This basket is made by Yeng Pang Basket Weavers cooperative in Kongo village Northern Ghana and fairly traded. 

MATERIALS

The basket is made of natural veta vera grass straw. Should the basket loose its shape, hydrate it lightly, and restore its initial form. Allow it to dry in a well-ventilated room. Colours may fade in contact with direct sunlight. Caution: this product may splinter.

PACKAGING

This product comes package-free, besides a small paper label letting you know the name of the woman who made your basket!

END OF LIFE

This product should be used for as long as possible and then donated to give it a new life. Otherwise, it is 100% compostable!

BRAND

Yen Pang Basket Weavers cooperative was established in Kongo village Northern Ghana in 2014 with the support of Estonian NGO Mondo. Having initially started with eight women under a mango tree, the cooperative has now quadrupled in size, and has its own centre for weaving and storing the baskets. The cooperative is also training other women in nearby villages in basket weaving.
