Where to recycle used razors
Share
If you live in Toronto you probably know how difficult it is to recycle your used razors as the municipality won't take them. So we have come up with a solution, partnering up with TerraCycle® and Gillette®, our shop has become an official collection point. As of today you can drop off your old razors, blades and cartridges with the knowledge that they will be broken down and properly recycled and avoid ending up in landfill.
Pretty Clean Shop chose TerraCycle because they are a global leader in collecting and repurposing hard-to-recycle waste. They operate in over 20 countries and recycle billions of pieces of waste through various innovative platforms. They have won over 200 awards for social entrepreneurship and sustainable business. We also love that rheir offices are made entirely from upcycled waste and their walls are covered in ever-changing graffiti from local artists!
What you can recycle:
All brands of blades and razors (systems and disposable units, and replaceable blade cartridge units), rigid plastic packaging, and flexible plastic bag packaging.
Once collected, the razors are sent to the recycling plant to be broken down and separated by material. Plastics are cleaned and pelletized to be recycled into new products, such as picnic tables and park benches. Metal materials are sent for smelting and conversion to new alloys.
